Another Youtube find. From a collaborative project titled STATELESS which was released on my now very defunct music label TGVM in 2002. This was a collaboration with photographer/filmmaker Chris Bennett and the members of Early Day Miners and Unwed Sailor. This is the last track of the 5 song EP. This project was only done twice live in its’ entirity, at a release party with Damien Jurado in Bloomington Indiana and then a festival in Europe where Early Day Miners and Unwed Sailor both just happened to be playing. It was amazing to see live, with the footage projected on screens. Stateless was released January 2002. 2500 were pressed and is completely sold out. You can find all the videos on You Tube. (You tube makes it a little darker than it really is)

There was an interesting story last week on NPR about Nonprofits and the use of social media for fundraising. A point was brought up that I have often wondered. It was the issue of long term relationships and whether or not they are being created using these new tools. Having worked in fundraising in the past, the idea of creating long term relationships with donors was always a priority among the people I worked with. How will social media change the way organizations will integrate the contacts they obtain from outlets such as facebook/twitter/kickstarter/etc and cultivating those long term relationships needed for successful fundraising? The story also talked about the Pepsi Refresh Everything challenges Pepsi started with a huge buzz on superbowl sunday. Is it genius marketing or is pepsi really interested these small businesses and community organizations which they are helping raise money for? I voted daily for an old Hoosier acquaintance that recently won a grant to start their craft store and education center in Indy. It was awesome to watch how it all played out and kept my attention daily with voting, but once it was done I was gone. It will be interesting to see how the future of fundraising plays out with advent of all these new tools.
