What?

A sign that recently went up in my neighborhood. Had high hopes when I saw the building being cleared out over the winter. Then this went up. Made me think of this video my friend posted last year.

Social Networking and Fundraising

logo-jumo

Last week the co-founder of Facebook announced a new endeavor that creates a social networking site aimed to help people find causes and nonprofit organizations that they care about. The project is called JUMO and is set to launch later this year.

How will this affect fundraising? How will this affect Facebook, since a good amount of non-profits and volunteer ran organizations are there using it for the same purpose.

My hopes is that they will somehow it will integrate with the existing Facebook interface, or at least allow FB users to use the same profile and/or login. I think some get turned off with these new endeavors if it means another login/password to remember.

Is Bartering the New Currency?

Jen Lepkowski Photography

In the past I had some bad luck with bartering so for years I only “bartered” with good friends. Recently did some interesting work for three clients in the neighborhood. First was helping the most awesome pet sitter in Asheville, West Asheville Dog Walking and Pet Sitting. The next one was helping my favorite coffee shop in Waynesville, Panacea, set up some files right for a vendor. And then most recently, rack cards for photoghrapher Jen Lepkowski. All were perfect experiences. Its such a pleasure to do this type of work for people who might normally not be able to hire someone and have to cut corners in order to do marketing. They seem to appreciate the process and are always willing to listen to new ideas. More projects are in the works. Cant wait!
